The Jordan Standards and Metrology Organisation (JSMO) warned citizens about counterfeit laundry detergents that are being sold in some stores and on the sides of roads, which violate local standards.
The JSMO has caught many violations involving filling packages of different weights, mostly 10kg, with fake laundry detergent, which does not meet the industry’s standards.
These products are not effective, include large quantities of salt and damage washing machines.
Violating parties deceive consumers by labelling the counterfeit goods as “intended for refugees” and “not intended for sale” to justify the lower prices.
The organisation conducted inspections, in cooperation with the local authorities, confiscated the products and held violators accountable.
The JSMO stressed the need to purchase original products from reliable sources.
