When it comes to cleaning your clothes, it would be easy to think there’s not much difference between powder and liquid laundry detergent.
But while experts agree they both do a great job of cleaning fabric, the same can’t be said for the effects they have on your washing machine.
Commenting on Facebook, one Australian mum revealed how a washing machine technician explained that she should always stick with liquid detergent as it’s easier on her appliance.
“I had to get my washing machine fixed and the call-out guy said that my problems were caused from using laundry powder, that is was blocking the pipes in my machine,” the mum said.
“He said over time, the powder hadn’t broken down properly and the clumps had built up and caused a blockage.
“He told me that he always tells people to use liquid detergent because it’s easier on the system and your pipes won’t get clogged up.”
